DSD - digital planning of smile Digital Smile Design
The aim of aesthetic dentistry is to restore natural look of teeth with simultaneous consideration of their functional properties. The ideal smile should be balanced, the teeth displayed should look harmonious with the face and the gums ought to be properly shaped.
Each of us has his/her own definition of beauty. Using a special procedural protocol we can visualise the effect of treatment we want to achieve and show it to the patient even before we start work. The protocol was designed by dr Christian Coachman from Brazil. It involves making use of regular photographs as well as X-ray photos and diagnostic models. Subsequently, using a dedicated software, we can design a patient's smile - its shape, position, size of teeth and their 'emergence' from the gums - so called 'pink' aesthetics. The effect is possible to be shown in two ways; on the monitor screen and as a 'mock-up - directly in the patient's mouth we fix provisional veneers to imitate the final result. Thanks to this solution the patients even before the commencement of treatment can determine if the final effect meets their expectations.
